In the Opera House in Harbin, the foyers are as spectacular as the auditoriums. The architects drew inspiration from the landscape and the tall snow cornices in this icy city in northern China.

The 23 gallery spaces of the Louvre Abu Dhabi are finished with floors of natural stone. The structure can be regarded as a palace of the ruling family or as a cosmopolitan platform for cultural exchange.
